Around Town … 09/10/26

     September has never been my favorite months of the year for some odd reason. But neither has any month in the all. Everything seems to be drying up. All the tress around the neighborhoods are shedding leaves. The grass has went from lush green to dried up remnants of green and weed-looking stuff that was once green,.   

Our weather is also unpredictable, especially in the South. In times past, there have been very hot September days (as it is now) and then there were Septembers were very cool. I remember September 1975 very well. On the 23^rd of September of that year, it felt like 40% degrees outside in East Texas. The days of summer were coming to an end. I remember attending a funeral service that day in 1975 and how everyone was dressed for colder weather. A few days before, it had been hot.

     Today, on the 10^th (2026) it is 94 degrees in East Texas. When will hot days of summer be ending now? It’s strange how unpredictable weather can be, especially in the fall.

     But as some say, it is what it is! Not sure what that is supposed to mean exactly but I think you get the point!

     There’s not much going on in Logansport right now, but we’re under a burn ban. With everything all dried up like it is, I can definitely see why the burn ban is in effect. A fire in these woods would be hard to contain – putting it out would be next to impossible.

     We’ve had a little rain this month but not as much as we need or want!

     I had to go to Shreveport today for a hospital call and it is pretty dry up that way as well.

     I used to love raking leaves but have got too old for a lot of yard work so I only rake when my body tells me I feel like it!

     That’s about it for this post but I’ll add more when I get a chance. There’s not much to talk about except the weather right now!
